Borage, Borago officinalis. An unusually hairy wildflower, with 5, beautiful lilac-blue petals giving this plant its other common name ‘starflower.’ It is particularly attractive to bees for its rich nectar supply. Humans have used borage for many remedies in centuries gone by; nowadays its leaves can be found floating in your Pimms and recent studies show it contains powerful anti cancer chemicals.
Photographed in early morning light, using an off-camera flash fired on the top of the plant. 1/200th f/5.6, ISO 50, 100mm macro.
