Ghost Ship - Appears to be floating in air

Alaska Inside Passage, Dawn Princess

In the evening, from the Dawn Princess along the Alaska Inside Passage. . .

I thought at first this was an instance of a superior mirage, which is caused by light refraction and may cause an image of an object
to appear lifted well above its actual position -- for example, a boat appearing to sail in the clouds.

After in-depth study by an expert, we have determined it is much more likely the result of fog creating a "false" horizon.

Please may I pay to use this photograph in an ebook I'm writing about refraction? I will credit you and what is the cost? Please reply soon as my deadline is approaching. Thank you, Tim

What an utterly fascinating photograph. This is SO cool. I believe this anomaly is what I caught in this series...
