Sony ECM-MS908C stereo mic

For (no) comparison see: http://www.pbase.com/liquidstone/hdv_birds

The mic's plastic foot fits in the hot shoe; the mic has its
own AA battery. The built-in mic is under the "5D" and picks
up camera noise. (Holding a tethered mic w one hand while
supporting/operating the camera w the other is vexing.) In
the end I'll have the camera on a tripod, the mic atop the
camera, and I'll focus w one hand while directing the camera
w the other. Then there's the issue of processing the
HD video. Update: Use Adobe Premiere CS4, it works. Then
there's the issue of saving said video, once edited; write to
Blu-Ray, or downshift to DVD format.. If Blu-Ray, you'll need
a Blu-Ray writable drive for your computer AND a Blu-Ray player
for your new TV..

It's been just under 2 months and today I shot 5d video AND
burned it to a DVD by night fall. I tried Adobe's 30-day trial
version of Pr4, found that it worked, and so ended a frustrating
day of trying to get Apple's QuickTime Pro output (open 5D's .MOV
file with QTPro, export the .MOV as an .AVI, 16:9, progressive scan, only
to find (I think) that QTPro's output isn't compliant enough
for other programs to make sense of..)

other sizes: small medium original auto
