Frank, I take your word for it, you certainly know better than I how Virgil looked like !

beautiful image Eldar...very intense...the light up there is luminous....V PS: I wish you had paid more attention! I can't vouch for the one on the left, but the rightmost bust looks like it might be Virgil whose final resting place is heretofore unknown. :)

It never accured to me , amigo, that Dante and Virgil eternally navigating Styx since 1321 would've had anything to do with this church located approximately 8.5 km above the level of that proverbal river ( or 4.2 km above sea level ). I guarantee you scallopini under rich marsala sauce and more delicacies when we see each other again, and on the surface of Earth, yet meanwhile I have to crack my head going through the puzzle on whether those 2 busts in front of the church , which I didn't pay any attention to in first place, do belong to Dante and his lurky pal ?!

Hello O Evil One. With the sun low in the sky and the clouds brooding overhead, there is a potent force that lurks deep within the highly textured walls of this foreboding structure. Most surely this church is a portal from which sprites, demons and poltergeists are ferried back and forth between Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and the River Styx. Perhaps, though thousands of miles away, this was the undisclosed location where Dante escorted Virgil down through the circles of Hell... where John Milton said "All Hell Broke Loose." Personally, I would have preferred that these meshuganh poets, Dante and Virgil, be more productive..... to consider the finer, more cultural tastes of their readers ... I wish that they had opened up a good authentic Italian restaurant instead..... a little veal scalapini along with some pinot noire would get us all more quickly to Paradiso than any ride on the River Styx Express. A Votre Santé, Amigo. Ciao, Michael.
