These are my childhood favorites. They are made mostly in the winter times. Hawthorn berries, oranges or Chinese yam occasionally mixed with nuts and red bean paste, are strung on a bamboo stick. They are dipped in boiling brown sugar syrup, then set cool on a piece of marble. The only thing in the US that comes close is the candy apple.
