Elgol Flush

Elgol, Skye, Scotland.

Elgol beach and the Cuillin flush pink in the setting sun on a day that included winter blizzards, brilliant sunshine and moody skies. Every hour a different shot resulted but this is close to my favourite.

NEW!! Photographc workshops and masterclasses at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Several comments to "chew on" for you:

1. There is a very strong foreground and a good background but the middleground is pretty much a void. Having a middle ground would strengthen the image. I understand it was a limitation of what was or wasn't available. Then the next issue is what is the primary subject? If you were to distill what you are trying to express into one sentence, what would that be? Simple questions with harder answers, but I've found them useful.
2. Personally, this is one of those "granduer" scenes calling out for expression; although you are generally a master at the near/far compositions, granduer is also wide as in "turn your head to take it all in" wide. I would love to see you tackle that concept and see what you might come up with. I acknowledge what you have done so far is generally spectacular, but why not expand your horizons? (pun intended). The point is to distinguish what "toolbox of possibilities" is needed to interpret and then express a strong sense of granduer? I have put forth a distinction that "granduer is wide"; what would you add to that? or do you contest that as a worthy distinction? Because you chose otherwise is simply as valid as any choice, but it does not necessarily explore.
