28th March 2009 - disco stomp

I’m going to get my hair shirt on for my confession today. It’s not today, or even that near today but I’m going to try to get back to the present soon.

Today (Saturday 28th March 2009) has been a beautiful day in all senses of the word.

I’ve been out with two friends – Becky and Toni – a pair of “lovelies” if ever I met them. Becky and I had planned a day out “girlie shopping” for some weeks, when I got into a conversation a few days ago with Toni, who expressed an interest in joining us. Of course we readily agreed, especially as she has first-hand knowledge of Exeter, the chosen venue for our day out.

We were shopping for something really special – my wedding dress, which we found in the second shop we went into so we then camped out in a restaurant for much of the rest of the day, supping wine, giggling and chatting. We even managed to rustle up a fourth member of the group, as Toni arranged to catch up with an old friend while we were there too.

The girls persuaded me that despite a long, arduous(!!) day’s shopping, that I needed to get myself and DM back out to play for the evening. It was a special evening where another friend was DJ-ing in the local pub, doing and 80s themed evening. Unbeknown to her, the profits from the night were being given to her partner to help him combat a terrible illness. So, the trip out to support a friend was certainly a worthwhile cause.

Anyway, how could a girl who was on top of the world (me) refuse a night out dancing especially given the good cause. I made my way onto the dance floor and pretty-much stayed there for the rest of the night, disco stomping with the best of them. We set off to walk the couple of miles home at around half-eleven and got a couple of hundred yards down the road when we were picked up by another good friend and transported home in comfort and style…..not to mention a few brief minutes rather than an hour or more of hard walking.

All-in-all, I had a completely fab day.

And yes, I am aware that "disco stomp" is a 70s song, not an 80s one.

Sounds you were on top of the world - I'm so pleased for you, Linda. But could someone explain to me the attraction of dancing?!

I'm envious, these old knees can't manage a stomp anymore. Did manage a sway and a wobble to Los Pacaminos last Saturday, though. PY has soooo lost it :(
