Pectoral Sandpiper - banded - in Barrow Alaska

On August 26, 2008, this Pectoral Sandpiper came into the "pits" at Ensley Bottoms in the company of 6 other traveling companions and settled in among the thousands of shorebirds. Today, I received the following information: The bird is a female that was captured and banded on June 26, just 2 months before while setting a clutch of 4 eggs near Barrow Alaska. In this study over the past few years they had banded 404 female and 551 males and this bird is their first sighting reported off the breeding grounds!! This bird is now among the 60 plus banded "Wind Birds" from 6 countries that I've seen at the "pits"...........
