I found out my stainless steel Groco basket started to break down after 6 years with small bits breaking loose. Thinking about these bits lodging in the waterpump housing and tearing up the impeller.

Use a proper size drift pin to drive out the spring pin. Make sure you support the brass properly or you may break the ear. I would also recomend soaking it in Kroil or Liquid Wrench penetrating oil to loosed any corrosion prior to using the hammer and drift pin.

What a great illustration. I am trying to replace the hinged bolts that hold the cap in place and wanted to know how to remove the stainless tube holding them in place.
Thanks for your time.

I saw this and thought it looked familiar. Under all the green corrosion, I have the same except for straight instead of elbows and a sight glass that I thought was solid metal. I've got my work cut out-maybe glass beading instead of brushes.
Thanks

Thank you for your post. That is very helpful. I was looking for a replacement strainer basket for my Perko when I came across your contribution. Thanks for taking the time to post.
