Thanks for the interesting comments, everyone. The bike is rusty because new ones tend to attract theives. The vendors travel around the city to spots that they feel will bring them customers. A guy has started parking outside our school every morning and he gets lots of trade until 8:00 when he moves on to park outside a hospital.

Nice slice of life, John...that vehicle is really unique and shows its' character. Does the vendor come and go evry day? Photo Bug

Great catch to bring this side of living to us!

Great capture - the food looks steaming hot, and tasty! I hope he earns enough to buy a new bike, that one looks old and rusty.

Thanks for the info John, that's interesting!

He's cooking an egg on a burner in there. Inside the glass it's pretty warm. He can use his bare hands all morning. He combines the egg with some flat bread outside and some doughnut type bread inside, so it's a warm and filling breakfast.

Interesting shot John, I think the unfriendly looking guy just needs more sleep :-) I'm wondering how that food is kept warm, is the secret in that metal box on the bike?

Good that they don't have the Dutch Food and Health authority around... These guys probably wouldn't have had their breakfast. Thanks for showing us the Chinese way.

Unfriendly looks still make for curious snapshots. But they do convey the feeling of the alienated cameraman.

I appreciate the connection you make to the movies. In China, everyone likes to dress in black, so these guys are not so scary here as they might seem elsewhere. I'm only wearing a light jacket, (a transplanted prairie Canadian), so the guy's look may have more to do with the cold the day and how inadequately I'm dressed. Or not. I'm guessing that these guys are limousine drivers, because this was taken in a high rent hotel district, so the guy may be looking down on me as a foreigner who can only afford to walk.

Looks like 2 hit men & a snitch out of a John Woo movie.
Methinks you like to take chances, jrdu.
