Many Thanks to Danny Harbin
This is a great shot -- Danny Harbin tells us that he is the one on the rail -- with his barefeet anchored securely -- Anne Whiddon Kirkland, with the cap, on the rail just beyond is looking this way -- the young man selling something to the right is an unidentified person -- can you tell us who he is?
Dr. George Callihan owned the old race track and we are told that football and baseball games were held there plus the county fair. A lot of activity went on around there. This picture must have taken in the 1940s as Danny Harbin said he was about six years old here and he was born in 1941. Anne Whiddon was a good basketball player and attended McRae-Helena High (1949-1953).
