Noche de Paz

Klamath Falls, OR

This little straw nativity was the first of my collection. All are handmade and from many cultures. This one I got when I was 8 (51 years ago!) in Ciudad Juarez, Sonora Mexico. It sits in the place of honor on my mantle every year. I share many of them in glass cases at the public library.

In Poland this Nativity scenes tradition is very vivid, there are different materials used for making them, straw, wood, glass, paper, matches, clay and there are also exhibitions every year in many towns.
Also every church has its own nativity scene called "szopka" which neans little shed.

The special and long tradition is in Krakow
