Viewed from our B&B balcony in Annenhaim, this castle sits across the end of the lake, overlooking the tiny village of St Andra. A castle originally stood here from the 11th century, and burnt down in 1542. Shortly after, this castle was built.
It was severly damaged by lightning in 1812, and was then abandoned and neglected until 1953, when it was restored to some extent, to become a tourist attraction which is now the venue of daily falconry displays, a macaque monkey enclosure, and medeaival banquets.
