Despite the poor quality, this is one of the best shots I ever got

Proof that an eagle banded in 2006 by my friend Fisher, is alive and well and has survived in the wild for the past 2 years after a brief stint in rehab.

Also worth noting, on the leg with the silver band, the upper hallux was injured and the black sheath on the talon had fallen off. As you can see 2 years later, it is just a stub and the sheath never grew back. Obviously it hasn't affected his ability to survive in the wild.

Original story here: Into The Great Wide Open

Canon EOS 40D
1/800s f/9.0 at 400.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I have to admit I have never seen this POV of an eagle. It's a fantastic capture and a great story.
