Hurricane Ike

Metairie, Louisiana

Hurricane Ike is at least 275 miles away but it surely is kicking up the water as it travels in the Gulf of Mexico below Louisiana on its way to Texas.
I am sure this couple does not even notice the wind and waves.

Sunday, September 14 - Most of our coastal towns in Louisiana are flooded and over 50,000 homes have water in them. We have had such coastal erosion and destruction of wetlands in the past half century that there is no longer a barrier between the residential communities and the Gulf. Oil companies that cut canals through the marshland and caused salt water intrusion that destroyed wetlands are greatly to blame.
