Wonderful. I took a helicopter ride there at sunset - one of the best experiences of my life. Just wish I'd had a better camera at the time. I just had a little point & shoot film camera; this was my favourite shothttp://www.pbase.com/serenab/image/52061271 (it's scanned, & looks a little soft).

Ayres Rock/Uluru really moved me. I was totally overwhelmed by the stirring beauty of the Rock. I think it was because I had no real expectations of the place before I visited; I thought, it's just a big rock, how good can it be? Well I found it utterly awesome; I couldn't believe the scale of the place. Bizarrely to me, I heard people remark that it wasn't as big as they'd expected - to me it was unbelievably immense!

That's the trouble with preconceived ideas, with visiting somewhere you have always wanted to go. The reverse happened to me at the Mayan Temples in Mexico - I had such great expectations of them that the real thing couldn't help but fall flat...although I must admit that Tikal in Guatamala was more what I had hoped for.

Anyway, a great shot V
