My wife's grandfather served on the Uganda as the radar man. I remember him talking about the time Churchill was aboard and how he wished he had asked for the a cigar but when he was finished smoking it, but I think he said all he could muster was a polite "good morning sir" as he went about his duties.I have a picture of the the crew at dock alongside the ship, quite impressive. I'm not sure how to upload a photo to this site.

Eric, I have finally come across a photo of my father, Murdo MacLeod, who served on the HMCS Uganda. I would like to send or upload the photo but not sure how to go about it.

mrs. norma Dixon wife of douglas c. Dixon who was able seaman at that time, we've attended many reunions, steven geneja's book I have and in two different pictures I can see doug....did not meet and marry him until april 5, l969, I was widowed for 6 years having a rcaf man john wintonick from wpg.pass away heart attack greenwood airbase (airframe mechanic) my two children were only 9 and 8...Peter Wintonick went on to win the governor general's award (film/writer for point of view). would love to have any possibility of a photo of douglas Dixon page 146 on the cruiser Uganda, shows doug deep in the bowels of the Uganda, tall and skinny (6 ft l) his number was: v63228 ..sailing all over that 80,000 miles round the globe, what an adventure. I'll be 88 Oct. 21/2014.. My daughter Suzanne and I have gone to a couple of reunions since doug passed away feb.2, 2008.

I am remembering my father this special day as well.

Gerald Milne Moses took many fine pictures when he was aboard HMCS Uganda,

I did this part of my photo website as a Remembrance Day project to honor my father and the other fine men who served on HMCS Uganda.

If you have any photos you would like to share, I would be glad to post them here to remember your father as well.

Best regards,
Eric
