Icebergs

Each spring, huge chunks of ice break off the polar ice cap and drift down the Labrador Current - right past our eastern doorstep.
Sometimes they drift close to the shore with the prevailing easterly and north-easterly winds this time of year, and run aground, providing one of our best tourist attractions.

Hi Jerry, firstly,congrats on your beautiful iceberg gallery so nice nice to see these wonderful natural creations. Six years back,june 13-21st my wife Conny decided to give me a surprise vacation treat for my sixtyeth birthday in the DolomiteMountains Italy,hiking ,.drinking ect, get the picture!!Well imagine my suprise when we had travelled from our house in the Netherlands down to Brussels airport to pick up our off road hire vehical for our trip, that the trip had been changed.12 hours later we arrived in St Johns Newfoundland for the most wonderful birthday treat of my life, including wonderful food,drink,and, B&Bs and above all wonderful local hospitallity wherever we travelled. Your beautiful images bring it all back like it was yesterday thanks for sharing with us.Regards Tony&Conny Ellison.PS we also took some boat trips to see icebergs but the weather was not as good as your images suggest,and we are allways reminded of it each time we play Great Big Sea album (trip around the bay) Oh me Oh my i think i'm going to die LOL.
