These images, taken with the Sigma SD1, at which you look in reduced size, sRGB profile and in JPEG, lower resolution, are much more sophisticated, subtle, more spectacular in prints, TIFF RGB, HR and in large size A1 super. The feeling of "3D" and " physical presence " is spectacular and aroused a lot of enthusiasm in the Salon de la Photo in Paris. The ideal would be to be able to show you the picture in TIFF RGB, larger size, in high resolution, on a calibrated and quality large display with wide gamut (30")
The SD1 is phenomenal. I think the critics (Photo Magazines) are worried that a small company like Sigma might have something better; I own the small DP1 and 2, and always get positive comments on IQ.
Humberto,
I strongly disagree. Viewed on my monitor - also a calibrated, wide-gamut, 30-inch beast - the dynamic range looks excellent. Of course, you are also able to see these at full-size. I cannot find anything near that on your site, so it is very hard to figure out what you mean from your own results.
Best,
L
I am sorry George, I do have a "calibrated and quality large display with wide gamut" display (Eizo CG243W) and color and contrast is, precisely, where these photos let a LOT to be desired. Resolution, albeit good, is also far, far away from Sigma's claims that this could be a match to MF.
Sorry, but it's what I see...Your good photographic eye would certainly be better served by a Sony, Nikon or Canon offer.
