Two-barred Crossbill

(loxia leucoptera)
The Two-barred Crossbill is a rare vagrant to the UK. It breeds in the taiga region of Russia and also in small numbers in northern Sweden and Finland. It would normally migrate in a south easterly direction. The bird photographed here is a juvenile which was present at Skaw on Unst for several days.
