In Search of Paradise

Loch Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland.

Just one thing stops this place being a complete photographers paradise, midges. At the time of year I took this namely late Spring the little darlings are swarming all over you. They are in your ears up your nose and their bite is out of all proportion to their tiny size. The situation was exacerbated by the relatively windless conditions but the bitingly sharp clean light persuaded me the effort was well worth the next days lumps.

NEW!! Photographic Holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Iam, this is a very beautiful image and the sky is very typical of Scotland. I learned the hard way about Midges after a hike and over night wild camping up to Loch Wharral back in July. Comparing to our Gulf Coast marsh mosquitos...same numbers in forces but the midges bite stays with you longer. You deserve a "Vote" for this one

what a great shot, worth the midges' torture (though that's easy for me to say!).

I know what you mean about the midges! I spent two weeks in Scotland in September and they just about drove me batty up in the Highlands. I refused to give up though - it was so beautiful there! Wonderful pictures by the way. I check in often to see your latest Scotland Pictures.
