Rolled in Gold

Forres, Moray, Scotland.

One particularly fine late summer morning just after sunrise I was out with a fellow photographer and suggested to him that we try for a few graphic compositions using the ever present golden bales of straw. The light was absolutely sumptuous and I chose a field that had a good slope on it so that I could achieve some vertical depth in the shot effectively placing myself above the bales of straw. The only problem was getting my own shadow out of the shot. I placed it on self timer and ran away like a scared rabbit, it must have looked very funny to a casual observer.

Beautiful light, and just enough green in the foreground to set off the golden hues. V

Come to think of it, it's funny those bales don't roll off that hill...??

Superb composition and as you say 'sumptuous' light. One of the best haybale shots I've seen.
