My late father and I toured the Highlands in 1988 and drove through the Vale of Tears. I'm a MacDonald on my mother's side, so Glencoe holds special meaning. 20-years on I remember stopping and looking back into the Glen as we were leaving. That image has stayed with me so clearly that when I chanced upon the (untitled) photo at another web site I knew instantly that it was of Glencoe and said so to my own son as we looked at the image together. From father to son to grandson, this breathtaking image -- like the Glen itself -- stays with you forever. Many thanks for including the technical details.

Can any geomorphologist explain how this landscape forms?
Did glaciation shaped the valley? Is that a cuesta and butte or an anticlinal ridge?
