A monstrous sea pounded the coast of Dail Baig on the west coast of Lewis, yet we were confined to a car with howling wind driven rain lashing the windscreen. Despite a promising gap on the horizon hope was waning fast as the incessant rain had already lasted 3/4 of an hour. For a moment the rain stopped and we seized our chance and looked in awe at the tumultuous sea sending spray clean over the cliff tops, the sun magically burst through the cloud layer and the spray, sea and stacks turned to gold. At the same time rain of truly biblical proportions returned with a vengeance and I snatched just three shots before the deluge soaked us through and we were forced to return to the vehicle with our clothes adhering to us. That golden light spawned rainbows of outrageous intensity but it was impossible to do anything but admire them.
