Cold Contemplation

Loch Morlich, Cairngorms, Scotland

Thin layers of sheet ice had frozen over the shoreline of Loch Morlich on a cold and steely blue winter morning. However the water was still quite choppy with a light wind blowing over the surface which broke up the ice into small platelets which then began to accumulate in layered tiers. One satelite rock provided a dark domed anchor for the image whilst the ice contrasted in hue, brightness form and texture.
