24 Carat Sunrise

Geocrab, Harris, Scotland

Whilst sunsets are a relatively straight forward proposition on the Isle of Harris, sunrises are much harder to come by, the east side of the island being more like a lunar landscape. This little bay is not particularly striking unless you happen to meet with the right conditions and boy did I get them. The bay was glassy smooth and with sunrise just a little off axis the clouds coloured up just beautifully. A brief moment of transient light flicked across a comparatively ugly inflatable dinghy, for a moment turning it to burnished gold thereby creating for me the finest of finishing touches and a 24 carat result.

Nice. An excellent example of my theory "you can make a beautiful image of anything with the right light." Nicely done.
