It is rare that an image makes it into my best three dozen category but this one for me slides comfortably within my elite personal preferences. Loch Achtriochtan is very shallow and consequently settles down to a mirror smooth reflection much faster than its less sheltered and deeper cousins further up the glen. A heavy sky with broken cloud allowed splinters of sunlight through to paint the autumnal flanks of the steep sided mountains by the side of the A82 A nervous wait for a gap in the traffic and the perfect light to fall on the two trees ensued but finally got one shot that to me represents the very best of transient light.
