At the south end of the island Arran becomes increasingly rocky and seals haul themselves out of the water to bask on the rocks at low tide like be-whiskered reclining mermaids. Close by where the road descends to Kildonan is the low lying Isle of Pladda and its lighthouse and in the far distance Paddy's Milestone otherwise known as Ailsa Craig. High up on the hill I was treated to a stunning view of verdant fields, dazzling sunlight and this passing storm cloud which duly shed its cargo of rain on Ailsa Craig.
