Cold Comfort

Kinlochewe, Torridon, Scotland

There are not many strongholds for this most beautiful of native Scottish trees but in Torridon there are still a good few clustered over the mighty Torridon mountains. I photographed this on an intensely cold winter day where the frost still remained unmelted right through until sunset. At that stage the low light picked out a few individuals so I waited for an opportunity to shoot one particular shapely specimen against the blue frosted slopes. The opportunity was fleeting as the light quickly moved on but this proved to be the nicest.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses and fine art cards are now available at TRANSIENT LIGHT
