Nestling in between grey rocks, a river and in the shelter of an overhanging cliff, and all but invisible from the wee road to Gairloch is this delightful tree, it's canopy sweeping off to the left as if caught in permanent prevailing winds. I discovered it on a grey drizzly day the colours of moss and bracken fairly leaping out due in large part to the sombre surroundings. Toughest of all was finding a composition that worked but I noticed the canopy could be forced beneath the overhang and the tree just kept clear of any part of the nearby rocks lending it a satisfying degree of separation from its rocky garden
