Conic Woods

Conic Hill, Balmaha, Scotland.

Sunlit pine woods even ones as delightfully open as this are going to be a complete exposure nightmare and assuming a perfect exposure, my poor scanner was then tested to its absolute limit, multipass single CCD scans, tuned as well as I possibly could to eek every photon of performance out of it. (I may have to send it on holiday to recover), Trouble is I find these woods so very attractive to my eyes and therefore irresistable to photograph, so here it is a single exposure on Velvia and I am content. The intense greens of the mosses, the necessary elimination of direct sunlight and the shades of bluish green from the back drop of rhodedendron all add to the magic and atmosphere. Hope you like it too.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Beautiful image. The scene is remarkably similar to this one, on the other side of the North Sea: http://www.pbase.com/pablof/image/67325891
