"Cruise" down one of the most scenically beautiful stretches of river in Laos. Compared to the Mekong, the Nam Ou is considered more dramatic and wild and also has far less traffic. Sad to hear that this river will be destroyed and everyone will be deported within a couple of years because the Chinese are building 7 dams along the river.
From Muang Ngoi, we visited the Tham Kaang sheltering cave used during the Indochina war.
Walk through rice fields to Ban Na, a village of the T'ai Deng ethnic group, and back to Muang Ngoi.
