TRAINING FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

Members of local law enforcement were provided training on animal related issues pertaining to local animal ordinances, state law, and domestic violence and its relation to animal abuse. The Murray City Attorney, Warren Hopkins, and the Calloway County Attorney, David Harrington, answered questions about animal related enforcement issues. Also in attendence were two veterinarians from the Murray Animal Hospital, Terry Canardy and Marty Wynn, who taught officers about the signs and symptoms of an animal in distress and how to handle medical emergencies. Humane Society President, Tom Rottinghaus, discussed domestic violence issues and Society programs that help law enforcement in the performance of their duties when dealing with animal abuse and neglect complaints.
