Humane Society in the Schools

The Humane Society is active in the education of children in grades K-6th. The society pays for a newsletter called KIND News to be delivered to 110 classrooms in Calloway County as well as the Public Library, Montessori Discovery School, Eastwood Christian Academy and the Lakeland Homeschoolers Association. We affected over 3000 students in 2004. The program is expensive to fund but the comments we receive from the students makes the financial burden neccessary. KIND News is a student newspaper published by the Humane Society of the United States. It is similar to the Weekly Reader, but with an emphasis on humane education and animal and environmental welfare. The kids love the games, puzzles and information about animals. Teachers tell us the kids can't wait until the next issue arrives!
