This folder contains photos of some of our therapy animals and their owners volunteering at various locations in Calloway County. Each year our dedicated volunteers take their animals to the nursing homes in Calloway County and to long term care at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital to visit with the residents who no longer can have pets due to their situation. Many of the residents have been animal lovers and pet owners all of their lives and are grateful to have the opportunity to have a dog or cat to pet and just visit with. Medical studies conclude that pets reduce stress, lower blood pressure and contribute to a feeling of wellbeing. Our therapy dogs (and cat) also visit local schools and participate in numerous functions around Calloway County and on Murray State's campus. Although the animals seem to be the focus of this program, it's really all about the folks they visit and the volunteers that make it happen.
