These two dogs had 1 hour left before execution. They were both abandoned and one was injured (automobile), They were rescued by Small Paws with 1 hour left before execution.
Thousands of owners buy and toss dogs like old furniture when moving or when they become tired of the pet, Thousands get executed on a daily basis, Some wag their tail out of happyness thinking they are going to be taken home as the needle is inserted others scream and whimper knowing the worst is coming. Dogs/Cats do have feelings just like people unfortunately they do not have a voice.
If I understand it right they where rescued and not put to sleep, is that correct ?
The combination of the title "happy to be held" and the photo is breath taking, absolutely perfect. As a volunteer working for the local shelter I see many unhappy dogs enter the shelter, all frightened with expressless eyes, and when I go to them to cuddle and hold them in my arms, the totally surrender and indeed can enjoy the intimacy. You never know what they have been through, but I alays think that they know that my intentions are good. Thanks for showing these photo's and taking such good care of the animals. I want to ask your permission to print "happy to bel held" and "injured" for illustrations in my shelter diary, for personal use only of course.
Hope to hear from you, reagrds, Hetty, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
very moving gallery. i agree that animals should be treated better than furniture or clothing. after puppies grow into dogs, the interest in them (for some) goes right along with the transition.
