Hatta lies within Dubai emirates and about 100km south east of Dubai, near the Oman border. We visited it for the first time on the UAE national holiday, 2010. I am pleased by the jagged Mountain View, the pretty Hatta village, the lovely red sand dunes, the typical Arabian watchtowers, and the inviting oases that are scattered at foothills of the mountains. Hatta dam is very scenic and makes one appreciate more this desert area. Further into the mountains, we reached the well-known Hatta pools through an adventurous drive, and observed some interesting layered rocks on the way. Of course, one can't forget visiting Hatta Fort Hotel, which is a pleasant and relaxing place for lunch, a day by the pool, and an overnight stay to enjoy archery, gulf, tennis and a long walk in the area.
It is a nice day trip to visit Hatta, to enjoy walks, picnics, bargaining at small shops, camel watching & riding, sand skiing & dune buggies, and most of all, the wadi exploration...
