Hi Jim, maybe it's my style - I observe and feel before I decide to shoot - I almost always choose for "manual focus" ... but have to add that I find two features of the Fuji particularly helpful: first, pressing the centre of the command dial to magnify the view in the electronic viewfinder for focus check; and second, using the AFL/AEL Button (quick focus) to pre-focus.
