Water cistern in Rye Churchyard Kent

Construction was first mooted in October 1733 when permission was sought for a water cistern, to serve the citizens of Rye. The site was approved by the Bishop and the local Vicar, who was paid 7 shillings in compensation for the loss of part of his churchyard. The tower was completed circa 1735.
