My name is Tina Gabourel. I lived in Oak Ridge Roatan with my dad,Jim Gabourel,and mom Betty,also three brothers,Jimi,John and Joey.We lived in the old Merles Island Inn nearest to the 'Happy Landing", in 1978. Is it still there? It faced the bay,and in the back was the Carribbean. What beautiful views.Some our friends were everyone we met!and for a kid, it was an adventure!! Some friends were:Calvin(at happy landings)his wife and kids,B.J. and Linda,The nice lady at her restaurant(who made banging Konch soup!) seems to me like a lot of people don,t know nothing much about the island of paradise well if you dont know you should go and find out wether you want to party until morning our you just want to relax and spend a nice time or try some extreme stuff just almost everything a big city has this little island has it to the double everything that could come to your mind and you want it this little island could give it to you in a blink of an eye it is like heaven on earth with all the goodie goodies

I'd always known my husband's family came from Honduras and when I finally delved into all the internet genealogy resources I found the very town - French Harbor. Your pictures were the first thing to come up when I did a web search on that name. Though many areas look so poor, it still seems to be surrounded by such beauty! Thanks for posting them because, little did you know, some vacation photos posted on the web turned out to be the first glimpse of a homeland a family hasn't seen in generations!

I am a missionary and I go to Roatan once a year in the Fall. It is the most beautiful place that I have been (so far). The island and the people are so easy to fall in love with and I miss them both so much. I am moving there very soon but it is so nice to see pictures of it now. I stay in French Harbor when I am there. These pictures are amazing! The way you all capture the moment, the person, the animal, the building, or your family is just beautiful. Thank you again for sharing your pictures with me and everyone else. I hope that more people will visit Roatan because of your pictures and end up falling in love with it. May God bless you and your family and keep you safe in all of your travels.
