Arc de Triomphe & Champs-Elysees

The Arc de Triomphe is at the head of Paris's most famous avenue, the Champs-Elysees. Planned by Mapoleon as a monument to his military prowess, the arch was not finished until 15 years after his death in 1836. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the arch makes it a place of remembrance. The Champs-Elysees has been associated with parades, shops, and parties.
