Ecuador - Birds

These photographs were taken during two trips to Ecuador. The first was a VENT birding tour to the northwest of Ecuador from November 13 to 24, 2003. Leaders were Paul Greenfield and Tony Nunnery whose help with identification was essential. The group met in Quito and traveled to Tinalandia Nature Reserve, Rio Palenque, Arasha Rainforest Resort, then to Mindo and the Tandayapa Valley. We returned to Quito and did a day trip to the spectacular Yanacocha Reserve. The second was a Field Guides trip led by Jan Pierson and was from January 29 to February 11, 2005. This trip also started in Quito, and first traveled to Yanacocha and Septimo Pariaso. We returned to Quito and then visited the east slope by way of the Papallecta Pass. We visited Guango Lodge and spent several days at San Isidro Cabanas. Then it was on to Coca and Sacha Lodge on the Napo River. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Ecuador is a wonderful country and should be high on any birdwatcher's list.
