I was told that the Sehra Bandi ceremony is for putting on the turban on the groom (I have a feeling that "sehra" means "ceremony" and "bandi" means "band"). This was only for the groom's party. The bride's party was supposedly waiting at the place of the wedding ceremony.
The groom carried a short sword. I was told that this symbolizes the groom's intention to protect the family. The groom also had a "sidekick" (I guess it's somewhat comparable to a "flower boy"), who was selected among the boys from the groom's family. I was told it's for a good luck.
The groom was supposed to ride a horse into the ceremony. However, since it was tough to get a horse these days, he settled for a convertible. I later suggested it should have been a Mustang Convertible, but a BMW did the work. :p
