The "big day"... We headed up to Napa "early" (that's 9 a.m. to us) in the morning. Took a wine toor at the Robert Mondavi Winery. Had a lovely lunch at Bistro Jeanty. And visited a couple more wineries (the Beringer and the V. Sattui).

As planned (completely unknownst to her), we headed back toward San Francisco through Sonoma. Last time we were looking at the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco from Battery Spencer, we loved the view, but we didn't have the camera with us.

So, we were sitting there waiting for a while to take a picture since there were quite a few tourists there. My ultimate (?) plan was to ask someone to take a picture of us and then pop the question right there so that the person who took the picture might be sensible enough to capture the moment. But I got too scared to actually follow through. :) So, just a picture.

Then, I took her toward the farther side (between the third and the fourth chain poles inside from steps) where it was a bit more quiet. And when we were sitting down to enjoy the view, I kneeled down, took out the box that I bought about a month ago, open up the box, and asked her to marry me.

I think she was totally taken off guard. Of course, her answer was "yes" although it took a bit for her to calm down enough to give a verbal answer. :) Not bad I thought till I tried the ring on her finger: it was too big. Oh, well, it can't be all perfect.
