Malaysia 2002, Day One

After about six hour flight, we landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA for short) in the late afternoon. The airport was fairly new (about 3 years old) and very nice. Our plane actually arrived a bit early, so we had to wait for Mr. Song who were supposed to gives us a ride to Kuala Lumpur (KL for short).

I didn't notice the heat at first because the airport was air-conditioned, but when we finally got outside, I could feel the humidity and the heat. It was actually the dry season in Malaysia, so it's usually hotter, but they said it was unusually dry and hot these days (around 32C~34C and a lot of small wild fires).

Mr. Song was nice enough to keep us company after giving us a ride to the Hotel Istana in the KL downtown. He took us to a Korean restaurant in the MNI Tower and showed us around where he lived.

Hi there. I am Malaysian currently studying abroad. I love your pictures... they make me miss home so much. I just wanted to say that the torn jacket in one of your photos isn't really a torn jacket. Motorcyclists back home wear jackets from back to front to protect them from the dust and smog from the cars, taxis and buses that dirties their clothes. This is especially important for them if they are on their way to work, they would definitely get a sounding from their employers should they turn up a mess.
