20-IMSA GTP 1986 Riverside Raceway

I drove to the former speedway site for the first time since its demise and let me tell you
how sad and frustrating it is to see this fantastic track replaced by a Costco, shopping malls,
shopping strips, houses, apartments and all that crap. And just a few miles past this there is
wide open land still, why couldn't they leave the track alone and build elsewhere???

All photos taken with my Pentaxes- one had a 35-135mm zoom and the other had a 1000mm telephoto. To see the full size image click on ORIGINAL below each photo.
The IMSA GTP cars were my favorite racing cars and Road Courses are my favorite tracks.
So I had a great time at the GTP race at the terrific Riverside International Speedway in 1986.

Thank you for sharing these pictures > I was there with my brother and have some of the car parts from the crash and can see my late brother in one of the your shots. after all these years to see him there! He was the best bro to go to the races with. You have know idea what this means to me THANK YOU!
