Stoatally (in)different...
11 June 2006 (268)

Alvediston, Wiltshire, UK

When I first came across this little chap, I thought he was dead;
but he was just enjoying a relaxing mud-bath and snooze in the sun
on the Ox Drove that links Shaftesbury with Coombe Bissett...
-- part of a very, very long walk
on a very, very hot day.

So... how do I know it's not a weasel?
Because a stoat is "superficially similar to a weasel, but appreciably larger,
and with a distinctive black tip to its tail...".
(So now you know...!)
