Colston Avenue

Bristol, UK

Occupying one of the most prominent locations
in Bristol City Centre, Colston 33 (the building on the right) fronts Colston Avenue,
and is situated directly opposite the recently regenerated Central Boulevard
that provides pedestrian access to the emerging harbourside development (see below...).

On the left is Colston Tower; and, in the centre, the church of St Mary on the Quay.

From About Bristol:
"Originally built by the Irvingites as a church, it was sold to the Roman Catholics a few years later.
St Mary was then actually on the Quay. The Frome was not covered in until the latter part of the 19th century.

"It is described as a forceful design, but is best appreciated from the opposite side of Colston Avenue,
as it stands on a raised platform with the entrance above the heads of people in the street."
