Hello and Happy New Year,
We thought we should write our last home2home email, to at least tell you that we made it and to wish you all a Happy New Year!
We spent our last days in Africa in Tunisia where, again, we were absolutely overwhelmed by African hospitality. We explored desert landscapes straight out of Star Wars (George Lucas didn’t invent that much at all!), indulged in couscous, dates and copious amounts of mint tea and appreciated the feel of ‘la petite France’ from the 1970’s… Finally, though it was time to get serious and realise that living out of our car couldn’t last forever and we loaded Big Mama onto a boat to take her to the Big Smoke of Europe. It was our second longest border crossing as the boat was delayed for 10 hours because of a drug search in Algeria and by the time we arrived in France, there was not a policeman or customs officer in sight at the border (they were probably already eating the foie gras) – we were home! Well, actually, we had 600 kms of autoroute in front of us in the cold and silence of a European Christmas eve but Big Mama delivered us in time for the present unwrapping the next morning at Florent’s parents’ house ...
