Terrific pensive mood and pose. I do not know why, but when I first looked at this photo I was reminded of the young lad "in uffish thought" who was awaiting the dragon (The Jabberwock) in the Lewis Carroll Poem, Jabberwocky (from the story "Through the Looking-Glass." )
Now of course I realize that Karen is no boy. But her expression here says to me that she is in "uffish thought."
"He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought-- So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came!"
To me, Karen appears to have something heavy on her mind. Nothing she can't handle. A dragon, like the Jabberwock would be a piece of cake. She is a very bright and capable young lady.
